Environment Cycle Radio F.M. 104.2 MHz(ECR FM 104.2 MHz) is a community-basedis a radio station working since April 2004 to make the Nepalese people aware of environmental degradation and pollution, and related public health issues. Created by the community-based, non-profit Youth Awareness Environmental Forum (YAEF), this independent, non-commercial community radio project envisions itself as “Community Radio for Rural Voice”. Objectives include: to inform valley-dwellers about environmental, health, and education issues; to raise awareness about coming events in order to make the urban life of Kathmandu Valley more productive and lively; to carry news and views to the public in every nook and cranny of the valley; to dispatch messages about the preservation of art, crafts, and culture; to foster tourism through the publicity of famous sites; to involve people from different walks of life in group discussions; to preserve the local languages and provide entertainment; to discourage gender discrimination; and to preserve biodiversity and encourage forestry conservation.
